LEVC’s (London Electric Vehicle Company) TX Shuttle is part of the new e-mobility shuttle service provided by Loop Münster, a service that aims to make transport in the city districts much more flexible while strengthening climate-friendly local transport.

A fleet of ten LEVC TX electric shuttles are in use around the German city of Münster, operating in the districts of Hiltrup, Amelsbüren, Berg Fidel and Mecklenbeck-Süd, adjacent residential areas and the Loddenheide and Hansa BusinessPark business parks.

TX Shuttle is a variant of the electric TX, the iconic London taxi and is designed, engineered and built in Britain by LEVC. The vehicle features a range-extended electric powertrain with a pure EV range of 63 (101km) miles and a total flexible range of over 300 (482km) miles.

Joerg Hofmann, LEVC CEO, commented: “It is great to see LEVC’s TX electric shuttles making such a big impact in Münster as part of this innovative new e-mobility service. Not only are the vehicles zero-emission capable, they are also fully accessible, with a host of passenger and driver features that creates a truly premium public transport experience.”

There are several charging stations in the operating area where the vehicles can refuel with green electricity. The general public also benefits from the charging stations installed especially for Loop Münster, because one of two charging points per pillar can be used by the public, the second is reserved for the Loop vehicles.

The NRW Ministry of Transport is supporting the project with the maximum possible sum of five million euros as part of the state competition "Mobil.NRW - Model project for innovative public transport in rural areas". In addition, the city of Münster is contributing over three million euros.

Transport Minister, Hendrik Wüst commented: “The Loop Bus is flexible, oriented to the needs of the users and it is easy to book digitally. Especially in rural areas, we need such attractive mobility offers so that people change to bus and train. The concept of the city and Stadtwerke Münster convinced us in the state competition for an innovative public transport system in rural areas.”

Andreas Scheuer, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, said at the inauguration of the new service: Digitisation will enable us to close many gaps in the public transport network. Through better networking of services and new on-demand services. Calling a bus by cell phone - this is citizen-friendly, innovative and makes our local public transportation even better. I am pleased that this is possible with a development from Germany and hope that many more cities and communities will digitally supplement their public transportation services.”
