Lucky escape for Winchester taxi driver as cab sets ablaze

A Winchester taxi driver has had a narrow escape after his cab caught fire, causing extensive damage.

Winchester Cops released an image of the badly damaged taxi which took firefighters 45 minutes to extinguish.

Emergency services were called to St Cross Road, on Saturday 25 January at 8.43pm to reports of a vehicle fire.


When the crew from Winchester fire station arrived, the taxi was said to be severely ablaze.

A service spokesperson said that the fire had started in the ignition compartment and was put out using one hose reel.
