A man has been arrested after footage emerged showing a minicab driver in Birmingham being racially abused by his passenger.
The 53-year-old was arrested on Thursday 4 June in the Erdington area, on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence. The victim is being spoken to by officers and the investigation continues, West Midlands Police confirmed.
Officers launched an investigation and appeal to trace the man filmed shouting racially motivated abuse at the driver, after being made aware of a video circulating online.
The footage, recorded by the victim, shows the passenger unleash a tirade of abuse towards the driver who remarkably remained calm throughout, even warning the man that the footage will be posted online for the world to see.
Among the abuse being hurled at the driver, the passenger can be heard saying "this is England" and "we'll blow you out the water". As he exits the vehicle he can also be heard referencing religion.
