Man arrested following assault with bat on passengers leaving Barnsley taxi

An investigation has been launched following a serious assault in the Darfield area of Barnsley on Sunday 12 July.
It is reported that at around 4.20pm Sunday afternoon, a 26-year-old man and his friend were walking along Venetian Crescent after getting out of a taxi.
The pair were then approached by a group of people unknown to them, who allegedly began shouting abuse.
An older male then approached the victim, before hitting him with a bat and leaving him with serious injuries to his face and body.
Officers were called and on arrival at the scene arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of assault. He has since been released under investigation.
