Man jailed after falsely posing as taxi driver to sexually assault woman in Nottingham

A man who sexually assaulted a woman after falsely claiming to be a taxi driver has been jailed for 15 months at Nottingham Crown Court.
Kelvin Ndoro, 42, admitted targeting a woman in her 20s as she walked home from a night out in Nottingham during the early hours of 18 May 2025. As she made her way along South Sherwood Street, Ndoro pulled up in a VW Golf and told her the vehicle was a taxi. She entered the front passenger seat and asked to be taken home.
Instead, Ndoro drove in the opposite direction before stopping in the car park of Lidl on Mansfield Road and locking the doors. He touched the woman’s leg and suggested they move to the rear of the vehicle. The victim agreed in order to create an opportunity to escape, managing to exit the car and hide before seeking assistance from passers-by.
Detectives were able to identify Ndoro using detailed information provided by the victim, who had recorded footage of him touching her leg. He was arrested the following day at Toddington Services on the M1 in Bedfordshire.
Offender sentenced to 15 months and placed on sex offenders’ register for 10 years following guilty plea at Nottingham Crown Court
Ndoro later pleaded guilty to sexual assault. In addition to the custodial sentence handed down on 5 February, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
Detective Constable Rebecca Walker, of Nottinghamshire Police said: “This must have been a terrifying experience for the young woman and we know it has had a lasting psychological impact upon her.
“The victim’s quick thinking allowed her to escape from the car having been duped into getting into it simply to get home from a night out.
“Ndoro’s behaviour was predatory and officers worked quickly to identify his vehicle, trace it and arrest him.
“We then built a strong case against him, while supporting the victim, leaving Ndoro with no option but to admit what he had done.”
