MANHUNT: Police release CCTV images after cabbie attacked and taxi stolen

Police in Lancashire have begun a manhunt to locate men who attacked a Accrington based taxi driver, stealing his cab and then dumping it in nearby Blackburn.


The incident near the Bees Knees Pub in Accrington was reported last month in the earlier hours on Sunday 9 October.

The cab driver was pulled out of his vehicle before unknown men drove off in the taxi. The car was dumped in Blackburn after a short police pursuit.


Officers have now released CCTV images of the men they want to speak to.


A Lancashire Constabulary Police spokesperson said via social media: “On Sunday 9 October 2022, at approximately 01:00hrs, officers have received a report from a male victim, claiming that he has been pulled out of his car and was assaulted on Blackburn Road, Accrington near to the Bees Knees Public house outside Freddies Takeaway premises, the victim states that the unknown males have then driven off in his car.

“The Vehicle was then involved in a short pursuit within the Blackburn area before being located on a street abandoned.


“Officers are asking for help in identifying the males involved in the incident or witnesses to the Robbery.

“If you should have an information please can you ring 101, quoting Crime ref 04/170437/22 or alternatively anonymously via crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
