A Mercedes with over 750,000 miles on the clock was pulled over by police on the M6 at junction 12 after officers noticed issues with the vehicle’s condition.
Staffordshire Police Roads Unit confirmed the stop, stating that although the driver claimed the car was well maintained, officers identified defects that led to a PG9 prohibition notice being issued at the roadside.
A PG9, often used by police and the DVSA, is served when a vehicle is deemed to have mechanical or safety issues. The car cannot be driven until repairs are made and the notice is lifted following a full MOT inspection.
The vehicle will now need to undergo a full test before it can legally return to the road.
A Staffordshire Police Roads Unit spokesperson said: “This Mercedes with 753,186 miles on the clock was stopped on the M6 at junction 12. The owner described the vehicle as well maintained, however we discovered some defects which resulted in a #PG9. The vehicle will now require a full MOT lifting the PG9.”
