Minicab driver in court accused of killing cyclist by way of careless driving in Oxford

A private hire driver appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court accused of causing the death of a 68-year-old cyclist by way of careless driving.

First reported by Oxford Mail, the PHV driver, a 28-year-old man, is said to have failed to give way at a junction on 8 August, 2020.

Driving a black Toyota Prius minicab, the driver allegedly struck the cyclist causing such horrific injuries that he went on to sadly pass away on 23 August.

The Magistrates sent the case to Oxford Crown Court, after the driver failed to enter a plea. He is now expected to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 18 March. He was granted unconditional bail.
