Minicab pulled over for routine COVID compliance check finds passenger with large quantity of drugs

A minicab passenger was arrested for the possession of drugs after a private hire vehicle was pulled over for a routine coronavirus compliance check.


The minicab vehicle licensed in Manchester was stopped crossing over to the Merseyside region by police officers. Merseyside Roads Policing Unit pulled over the driver on the M62.

Upon inspecting the vehicle the passenger in the private hire car was found to be carrying a large quantity of cannabis. Officers at the scene arrested the man for possession with intent to supply.

Merseyside Roads Policing Unit said via social media: “Manchester private hire taxi stopped entering Merseyside from the M62 for COVID compliance check. Passenger found with large quantity of cannabis and subsequently arrested for possession with intent to supply”
