More than 100 Uber drivers and relatives graduate with fully funded Open University degrees

More than 100 Uber drivers and family members have graduated through a partnership between the ride-hailing company and The Open University, according to a post by Uber executive Andrew Brem.
The programme offers eligible drivers or a family member the opportunity to study for a fully funded degree. The partnership is designed to let students fit study around work and family responsibilities.
Graduates featured in a video shared by Brem described completing courses while connected to Uber drivers. One, Afra, said she had been with Uber for eight and a half years and had previously studied computer engineering in Canada.
Another graduate said he was graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from The Open University. Mohammed Chaudhry described using the opportunity to pursue postgraduate study after earning a degree in food sciences in Pakistan.
Chaudhry said the course had supported his personal growth and gave him a productive way to use time alongside driving. He said his father-in-law, an Uber driver, had encouraged him to apply.
The programme also extends to drivers’ relatives. Brem said the flexibility to work around other commitments had enabled some participants to support family members through university.
