A motorist has been reported for driving without due care and attention after they were seen driving along the hard shoulder of the A27 before performing a three point turn to face the wrong way.

Hampshire Roads Policing Unit officers said the driver of the silver Mini performed the dangerous manoeuvre to assist another driver, this time of a silver Toyota Prius.

Highlighting the incident, Hampshire Police posted to their official Roads Policing Twitter account.

A spokesperson for the force said: "The driver of the silver Mini drove his vehicle down the hard shoulder of the A27, performed a three point turn and then drive the wrong way to assist the Prius.

"Reported for driving without due care and attention."

Twitter users were left astonished, with one responding to the tweet: "Should be banned for life. SIMPLE! If someone was speeding over the limit is that any worse not causing an accident? To driving the wrong way up the carriageway?"

Another said: "I saw this on my way to Hayling. Glad to see the police unit there." Another simply wrote "unbelievable".
