No evidence linking “PARTICULAR” private hire firm with assault by man on woman in car say police

Officers from Cleveland Police who are investigating a report of a serious incident involving a woman and an unknown male in a vehicle in the Redcar & Cleveland area in the early hours of Friday 8 April, have said they are aware of comments on social media regarding a local cab firm.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police, said: “Detectives remain in contact with the woman and are providing her with updates on the investigation while offering her appropriate support and advice.

“Police would reassure the public that there is currently no evidence of this particular taxi [private hire] company being involved in the incident and we’d therefore ask social media users to refrain from any further speculation or discussion which could identify the victim or seriously compromise the on-going investigation.

“We appreciate your understanding and co-operation.”

The force have not released any more details surrounding the alleged incident.
