North Norfolk District Council has launched a consultation on its updated Taxi and Private Hire Policy and Handbook.
The revised handbook reflects the government’s statutory taxi and private hire vehicle standards and includes guidance from the Institute of Licensing issued in November 2024. This approach aims to improve clarity for both drivers and the public.
The document outlines local licensing requirements and forms the basis for the driver knowledge test, which is part of the licensing application process. It remains the main reference for the expected standards across North Norfolk.
The revised handbook is split into sections covering Drivers, Vehicles and Operators. It introduces new content on First Aid and Disability, which is intended to support public safety and accessibility. The First Aid section will be printed on yellow paper for quick identification during emergencies.
A short version of the document is available as a quick guide, summarising key points of the policy.
The council is inviting feedback on the revised handbook from Friday 6 June to Friday 20 June 2025.
