North Norfolk launches consultation on updated taxi and private hire handbook

North Norfolk District Council is inviting feedback on its updated Taxi and Private Hire Policy and Handbook.
The revised handbook follows government standards and updated guidance from the Institute of Licensing issued in November 2024. It is designed to be easier to understand for both drivers and the public.
As part of the application process, drivers must complete a knowledge test. The new handbook outlines what is expected and serves as the main reference point for those working in the trade.
The updated version is split into three key areas: Driver, Vehicle and Operator. New sections include guidance on First Aid and Disability awareness. First aid content will be printed on yellow paper to ensure it is easy to find during emergencies.
Consultation runs from 1 April to 13 May 2025. A separate summary guide will be published in summer for quick reference alongside the full document.
