Norwich’s biggest private hire operator, ABC Taxis, has officially rebranded as Veezu, almost two years after its acquisition by the UK-wide private hire technology business. The move signals Veezu’s commitment to delivering consistent, tech-enabled transport across the country.

Since joining Veezu in 2022, ABC Taxis has seen significant growth. In 2023, the company handled a booking every 22 seconds. That number improved to every 20 seconds in 2024, showing sustained demand for private hire services in the city.

Veezu says it will continue investing in technology to improve passenger services in Norwich. Features such as in-app journey tracking, more payment options, and flexible ride choices are being rolled out. These upgrades aim to offer a more seamless experience to both leisure and business users, including over 600 corporate clients in the region.

The company is also pushing forward with its transition to a greener fleet. Over 75% of the 500 vehicles operating under the Veezu brand in Norwich are now hybrid or electric. This supports Norwich’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2045, as set out in the Norwich 2040 City Vision.

Community support remains a priority. Veezu will continue its partnership with Nelson’s Journey, a local charity helping bereaved children. The collaboration, originally established by ABC Taxis, has raised thousands of pounds and provided essential transport for families in need.

While the brand name has changed, the local team and service offering in Norwich remain. The rebrand allows the business to maintain its community roots while benefiting from the scale and technology of Veezu, which now operates in more than 50 locations across the UK with over 16,000 driver-partners.

Chris Ford, Regional Operations Director for Veezu, said: “ABC Taxis has been central to Norwich and the wider Norfolk transport network for over three decades. This has continued under Veezu and as we rebrand the business today, we will continue to deliver the highest levels of service by combining local experience with national capabilities. As we continue to grow, we’re focused on delivering passenger experience through ongoing investment in service, improved air quality and enhanced technology and continued collaboration with local organisations.”

Simon Wright, Chief Executive of Nelson’s Journey, said: “For many years, ABC Taxis have enabled bereaved families across Norfolk to access the services we provide. We are pleased that Veezu will continue to support the work of our charity. In a rural county, transport can be a real barrier for some people, and ABC Taxis have always been there to help families to get to the right place at the right time for the right support from Nelson’s Journey.”
