Officers uncover THREE Liverpool taxi drivers overcharging, refusing cards and not starting meter

A taxi test purchasing exercise in Liverpool uncovered THREE taxi drivers reported for overcharging, failure to start meter and refusing card payments.

The clampdown was conducted by Liverpool City Council’s licensing officers over the weekend in Liverpool city centre.

Further to the three taxi drivers, one private hire vehicle (PHV) was also reported for illegally plying-for-hire and working without the correct insurance.

A Liverpool City Council Licensing spokesperson said: “Liverpool Licensing Officers carried out a test purchasing operation over the weekend which has resulted in three Liverpool taxi drivers being reported for overcharging, failure to engage the taximeter and refusing card payment.


“One PHV driver reported for Plying for Hire and no insurance”
