Ola driver should be ‘reported and removed’ says passenger after receiving £131 bill

A Ola minicabs user called for the driver to be ‘reported and removed’ after a passenger was shocked to receive a £131 bill for her journey home from central London.
It is claimed that the driver took ‘advantage of drunk girls’ by adding on an additional 50-minute trip after being dropped off.
The passenger, known as ‘Claudia’, shared details of her trip on Twitter. An image showed the route the silver Toyota Prius Ola cab took.
Starting in central London the driver is tracked travelling to Richmond where the passenger claims to have been dropped off. After that the online meter is kept running and tracks a journey to east London some 50 mins after the original drop-off.
The cost of the whole journey came to £131.65, which included peak pricing at 2x the standard rate.
The passenger said: “First and last time using Ola Cabs. Woke up to a £130 Ola cab bill, as their driver added a 50 min drive to Walthamstow onto our journey, after dropping us off in Richmond.
“Probably hoped we wouldn’t notice, and I’m sure it’s not his first time preying on people.”
Ola Support responded: “We never intend to let you down and truly want to make things right, Claudia. Your concern has been communicated to our team internally and they'll get in touch with you shortly for further assistance.”
The passenger added: “Besides the refund, the driver needs to be reported and removed, adding on that much in the hopes that he could take advantage of drunk girls makes your cabs very unsafe.”
According to sources, TaxiPoint understands the private hire driver has now been suspended pending an investigation, and the passenger has been refunded the money.
