Patons Insurance has appointed long-serving colleague Emma Plumbley as fleet account manager as the broker continues to grow its commercial insurance operation.
Plumbley, who has worked at Patons since 2013, has moved from her previous role as renewals manager into the fleet team. The appointment follows the arrival of Steve Milner as commercial manager in August last year.
Milner, an insurance industry veteran, joined Patons after nearly four years as operations manager at Gallagher and 14 years at Bollington Insurance Broker. Since joining, he has overseen the development of new products, including a broader fleet insurance proposition.
Plumbley said she had enjoyed leading renewals but wanted to return to more direct customer interaction. She said the fleet account manager role offered a fresh challenge and a progression route into a new area of the business.
Patons Insurance has moved renewals manager Emma Plumbley into a new fleet account manager role as the business expands its commercial vehicle insurance offer.
She said: “I completed my first sale at the end of my first week and it was fantastic to end it on a high.”
Patons said the move forms part of a wider push to expand its commercial team, which currently stands at 18 people. Milner said the business had recorded a strong first 10 months under the revised commercial structure, enabling further recruitment.
The expansion is also widening Patons’ fleet focus beyond its traditional taxi insurance base. Milner said fleet had historically meant taxis within the business, but the enhanced product range now allows Patons to cover commercial vehicles used by trades, hauliers and couriers.
Milner said Patons’ size allowed it to move more quickly than larger competitors, with customers valuing faster decision-making and consistent contact with the same adviser.
