Pedicabs seized by police during London enforcement operation
At least eight pedicabs were seized by police officers during an enforcement operation in London this weekend.
A total of eight vehicles were seized on Friday night, three of which were seen to be pedicabs. The five remaining vehicles’ identity remains unknown.
The vehicles were seized for driver’s having no insurance and not driving the vehicles in accordance with the driving licence.
Today a further five pedicabs were seized outside Buckingham Palace.
A Met Police spokesperson from the Special Constabulary said via social media: “Last night saw our Charlton Vehicle Enforcement Team MSC out on patrol last night.. in 7 hours, they managed to seize 8 vehicles for no insurance/not in accordance with a DL. Here are 3 of the seizures below! #OpDriveInsured @DriveInsured”
In a second Tweet today, they added: “MSC Officers from #RaSP conducted a joint operation with #VRES Officers outside Buckingham Palace today. 5 Rickshaws #Seized with most riders being processed for various other offences. #Rickshaw #MyOtherJob #JointWorking”
