PHONE AND INSURANCE: Police make ‘HORROR’ double discovery causing them to seize taxi
Police officers in Cheltenham made a ‘horror’ double discovery causing them to immediately seize a licensed taxi from the roads.
Officers pulled over a silver Peugeot Partner taxi on Saturday night (4 February) after spotting the driver using a mobile device whilst driving.
Further checks revealed the vehicle was also not insured.
The driver has been reported to relevant authorities.
A Gloucestershire Police Specialist Ops spokesperson said: “OT61 spotted this Cheltenham taxi using his mobile phone whilst driving. To our horror the vehicle also had no insurance. Vehicle seized 165. Cheltenham Borough Council take note. Relevant referrals will be made.”
