London’s popular taxi driving YouTuber explains in detail why he and other black cab drivers DO NOT use Sat Navs in their taxis whilst working.

Tom Hutley, a cabbie with over 40,000 subscribers on the YouTube platform, released his latest video listing several reasons for the technology snub.

Customers hailing a black taxi in the capital can expect a driver that has completed the world famous Knowledge of London (KOL). Most of the time the driver will be able to immediately start the required journey without the need for technology or the time it takes to input and load up journey details.

Taxi drivers are highly trained to know and drive the shortest routes in central London and know multiple variations of routes available to them should problems arise on route.

There’s also the added factor that Sat Navs are designed for the average driver who do not know where they are going. It does not take into account quicker bus lane traffic and roads accessible to taxi vehicles, but not the general public.

Hutley’s YouTube channel has been a massive hit with viewers ever since it first launched in March 2020. The London black cab driver and qualified taxi guide completed the ‘Knowledge of London’ in 2017 after 3 years of studying. Four years into the job he now has a fast-growing channel on YouTube and has recently launched his own blog.
