Police appeal after taxi damaged by vacuum cleaner cable tied between lampposts in BIZARRE incident

Police are appealing for information after damage was caused to a taxi in Bury St Edmunds at the weekend in a bizarre incident involving a tied up vacuum.

According to police sources the incident occurred at approximately 3am on Saturday 18 December in Out Westgate.

A vacuum cleaner power cable had been wrapped around a lamppost and then spread across the road. The cable then got caught in a passing taxi, which caused the vacuum to be pulled out into the road and striking the vehicle, denting and scratching it.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area prior to the incident. Anyone driving in Out Westgate in the early hours of Saturday morning with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle is asked to review the footage.

Anyone with information about this offence is asked to contact the Bury St Edmunds Neighbourhood Response Team, quoting reference 71638/21.
