Police arrest one man and seek another after taxi driver assault in Portsmouth

Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to following an assault on a Portsmouth taxi driver.
According to police sources, a taxi driver was assaulted whilst dropping off two men on Locksway Road, close to the junction with Milton Road, on Thursday 15 December 2022 at around 5:10pm.
One man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, but officers would also like to speak to a second man. The man was carrying a Nike rucksack and wearing a baseball cap and a long sleeved, zip up, tracksuit top.
The taxi driver was unhurt in the incident.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said via Facebook: “We’d like to speak to him after a taxi driver was assaulted when he dropped off two men on Locksway Road, close to the junction with Milton Road in Portsmouth on Thursday 15 December at around 5:10pm. The victim wasn’t hurt.
“The man we’d like to speak to was carrying a Nike rucksack and was wearing a baseball cap and a long sleeved, zip up, tracksuit top.
“As part of our enquiries a 29 year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and has been bailed until March 19 pending further enquiries.
