Taxi for mini-cabbie! Police call cab for London minicab driver after seizing vehicle on M25

A London licensed private hire vehicle was sent packing by police officers who called him a cab after seizing his vehicle.

The man, driving a Transport for London (TfL) licensed minicab, was pulled over by Surrey Police officers in an unmarked car on the M25.

Eagle eyed officers spotted the driver using his handheld mobile phone whilst driving on the busy motorway.

Upon pulling the driver over, further checks on the minicab showed the vehicle was uninsured. Officers noted that the driver's policy had been cancelled due to non-payment.

The driver was reported and had his Toyota Prius minicab seized on the motorway roadside. A cab was called to pick up the minicab driver to escort him off the motorway.

A spokesperson from Surrey Police Roads Policing Unit said via social media: “Our unmarked car spotted this PHV driver using his handheld mobile phone whilst driving on the M25.

“Roadside checks found his insurance had been cancelled due to non payment.

“Driver reported and vehicle seized.

“We were nice and called him a cab to take him off the motorway."
