Updated: Feb 13, 2022

Lancashire Police Detectives investigating reports that a woman was raped in a Blackpool taxi have now charged a man.

Police officers were contacted at 8.44pm Tuesday 8 February by a member of the public reporting that a woman in her 20s had been subjected to a serious sexual assault while inside a taxi in the resort.

As a result of police enquiries, a 35-year-old man from Blackpool was arrested on 10 February on suspicion of rape.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, a man has now been charged with rape and sexual assault. He has been remanded into custody to appear before Magistrates on 12 February.

Anyone with information which could assist with the police investigation should call police on 101, quoting log 1384 of 8 February, 2022.
