Police confirm arrest of hit-and-run cyclist after 2 week man hunt
Detectives investigating a fatal collision between a cyclist and a pedestrian in Tower Hamlets have arrested a man.
A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and wanton and furious driving after he attended a police station in the early hours of today (28 July).
The arrest follows an appeal put out by the Met to trace the cyclist involved in the collision with 72-year-old Peter McCombie, who died in hospital on 11 July.
Officers were called at approximately 17:05hrs on Friday, 3 July to Bow Road, E3, near Thames Magistrates' Court, to reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a pedestrian.
The London Ambulance Service attended the scene and the pedestrian, 72-year-old Peter McCombie, was taken to hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries, where he sadly passed away.
The cyclist did not stop at the scene.
