Police investigate Bristol taxi driver’s ‘inappropriate’ comments after two reported incidents

Avon and Somerset Police are urgently investigating two incidents which left female passengers feeling threatened and allegedly falsely imprisoned by a male taxi driver.

The two reported incidents, which officers believe are connected, have been made in recent days. Two female passengers say the taxi driver made comments of an inappropriate and alarming nature. Both women were unharmed.

Police believe they have identified the relevant driver and urgent enquiries are ongoing to progress the investigation. Police are appealing for one of the victims who appeared in a video posted on social media to come forwards to police.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We’re aware of a post on social media concerning an incident in which a woman was allegedly threatened and falsely imprisoned by a taxi driver in Bristol.

“At present, the victim is unidentified and enquiries are ongoing to establish their identity.”

Officers are asking people with information to make contact with police by calling 101, quoting reference 5222012159.
