POLICE INVESTIGATE: Taxi bilker punches cabbie in face during incident in Redcar



Cleveland Police are investigating after a taxi driver was punched in the face as a man left a taxi in Redcar without paying.


Police officers are urging the public for any information on an assault incident that occurred at the Roseberry Shopping Centre's car park on Roseberry Road. The incident took place on Saturday 1 July, at approximately 10.10pm, leaving a taxi driver with minor facial injuries that required hospital treatment.

Reports suggest that the 29-year-old male taxi driver was assaulted after a passenger allegedly failed to pay his fare. The suspect, described as a white male of medium build, approximately 5ft 7 tall, and around 30 years old, reportedly punched the driver in the face, resulting in the minor injuries sustained.

Cleveland Police have since launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any relevant information. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who could potentially identify the suspect.
