Police investigating armed knife robbery of West Belfast taxi driver


Police officers are investigating the armed robbery of a taxi driver in West Belfast.


According to police sources, officers received a report that a taxi driver had been robbed by a man armed with a knife at around 10.40pm on Wednesday night at Kilmore Close in West Belfast.

The taxi driver had picked the man up at a taxi rank outside the Great Northern Mall in Great Victoria Street in Belfast City Centre shortly after 10.30pm and then driven the short distance to Kilmore Close, where the man produced a knife and threatened the driver.


A sum of money was handed over and the man made off on foot from the scene.


The man was described as being white, aged in his late 20s, of thin build, with short hair and had a Belfast accent.


Detective Sergeant O’Flaherty added: "I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 2139 17/06/20.
