Police investigating minicab sexual assault on female front-seat passenger in Liverpool


Police are investigating reports that a licensed private hire driver sexually assaulted a woman in Liverpool.


According to sources, the woman, aged in her 20’s, was picked up by a male minicab driver on Sunday morning after leaving a nightclub in the city centre.

Merseyside Police are now investigating a reported sexual assault whilst she sat in the front seat of the vehicle.


A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating following reports a woman was sexually assaulted in a private hire taxi in Liverpool.


“The woman, who is in her 20s, was picked up by the taxi in Liverpool city centre at around 7am on Sunday 12 September.


“The woman reported that the male taxi driver sexually assaulted her as she was sat in the front seat of the car.


“An investigation is underway and enquiries are currently being carried out. The woman will be supported by specially trained officers.”
