Police looking for Worcester black taxi seen speeding off with bicycle still under its wheels

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Worcester City Centre involving a black hackney taxi and a cyclist.

According to police sources, the incident occurred at around 11.30pm on Thursday 1 July when a cyclist using the cycle lane on Foregate Street, Worcester, was hit by a black Hackney Carriage style taxi at the junction with Pierpoint Street.

The taxi failed to stop at the scene of the collision and was seen driving off at speed with the bicycle still under its wheels. The cyclist is thought to have suffered a serious knee injury as a result of the collision.

Police officers are asking for witnesses or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward with information they may have. Officers are particularly keen to identify two females believed to be in the taxi at the time of the collision.
