Police operation catches two more minicab drivers illegally picking up public at Heathrow Airport

Two private hire drivers were caught illegally picking up passengers at London’s Heathrow Airport.

The Metropolitan Police ‘Cabs Unit’ operation caught the two drivers midday today outside Heathrow’s Terminal 4.

One of the licensed minicab drivers was reported for accepting a booking without the correct licence and no insurance. The second driver has been accused of taxi touting and having no insurance.

Last month a similar operation at Heathrow’s fourth terminal also found a driver in his 50’s illegally plying-for-hire and now facing prosecution.

Minicab drivers can only pick customers up with a booking set in place via a licensed operator.

Licensed taxis are the only vehicles able to pick the public up without a booking.
