Police post footage of London minicab narrowly missing woman on zebra crossing



Footage posted by a Met Police Detective Superintendent shows a near miss involving a private hire vehicle and a pedestrian walking across a zebra crossing in London.


The footage shows a silver Toyota Prius displaying Transport for London signage in the windscreen approaching the pedestrian crossing quickly. A female then starts to cross the road as traffic stops travelling in the opposite direction to that of the minicab. The private hire vehicle carries on through the zebra crossing without slowing, narrowly missing the the woman crossing.

According to Metropolitan Police Detective Superintendent, Andy Cox, the driver received three points on their licence and a £100 fine based on the dash cam footage captured and handed to police.


The police received 954 videos last month from the public which are being used to support road safety campaigns.

Andy Cox is the lead for road safety campaign Vision Zero and investigates fatal and serious road collisions.


The Detective Superintendent said via social media: “Public submitted #Dashcam & #Headcamfootage continues to rise in #London. Last month alone we received 954.
