Merseyside Police have issued CCTV images of a woman they would like to speak to after a private hire taxi driver was racially abused.

The driver had stopped to drop off a passenger on Arbour Lane in Kirkby at around 7.30am on Wednesday 16 June. The passenger then requested to be dropped off at a different destination before an argument broke out over the additional cost.

The passenger then became abusive and made a racist comment towards the male taxi driver before getting out of the car and walking away.

Police officers have since launched an investigation into the incident with enquiries being carried out.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “We have now issued images of a woman who we believe could assist with our investigation.

“We would ask anyone who recognises the woman, or the woman herself, to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 21000420300.”
