A taxi driver has been jailed for a series of sexual assaults on female passengers, including an incident where he diverted a journey and attacked a woman instead of taking her home.
Abdulhamid Alammar, 35, East Sussex, was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court to three years in prison after being found guilty of sexual assault and causing a person to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity. The offences related to attacks in November 2024 and April 2025.
The court heard that in the November 2024 incident, a woman in her 30s had booked a taxi home from a friend’s house. Alammar instead drove her to a secluded location where he sexually assaulted her. The case came to light during a police investigation into a separate assault reported by another woman in Hastings in April 2025.
Alammar had already been remanded in custody over the 2025 allegations when he was later charged in connection with the earlier offence. He stood trial in October 2025 for the April incident and was convicted of sexual assault, although acquitted of rape and sexual assault by penetration.

On sentencing, the court imposed one year in prison for the 2024 offences and two years for the 2025 assault. He will also be subject to a sexual harm prevention order lasting 10 years and must comply indefinitely with sex offender notification requirements.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Alammar was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.
Sussex Police's Det Con Christina Bales previously said: "These were serious and predatory offences committed against women who should have felt safe.
"I would like to commend the victims for their courage in coming forward and supporting the investigation."
