Prime for UK taxi conversion? New pure electric Peugeot e-Traveller revealed

Updated: Jun 12, 2020

French car manufacturer Peugeot have revealed a new pure electric multi-purpose vehicle primed for future UK taxi conversion.

The new Peugeot e-Traveller, which can seat between 2-8 people at any one time, comes equipped with a 50kWh battery allowing for a range of up to 143 miles based on the WLTP range which represents everyday driving profiles.

The 100% electric MPV comes with a familiar electric Peugeot e-208 model motor, pumping out 134bhp for a 0-62mph time of 13.1 seconds. A more than adequate 80mph top speed can also be achieved in the e-Traveller.

The e-Traveller offers the driver three driving modes: Eco, Normal and Power. The Eco option optimises range, whilst the Power mode offers 100kW of optimal performance.

Two types of on-board chargers are available, a 7.4 kW single-phase charger as standard, or an 11 kW three-phase charger available as an option.

Charging times range from seven and a half hours from a 7.4 kW charge point, to a speedy 80% in 30 minutes from a public 100 kW rapid charger.

There’s also peace of mind for the driver with a battery guarantee running for eight years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km) for 70% of its charge capacity.

So, what’s the price? No one knows just yet, but all will be revealed closer to the e-Traveller’s launch date in the second half of the year.
