Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Leeds.

It happened at about 10.35pm on Sunday 20 September, when a white Volkswagen Golf travelling along the A58 towards the city centre was in collision with a blue Seat Alhambra private hire car, at the junction of Easterly Road and Hollin Park Mount.

Emergency services attended, but the male driver of the Alhambra was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman, who was a passenger in the Alhambra, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Her condition is said to be critical.

The male driver of the Golf also suffered serious injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Images circulating social media show the aftermath of the collision. A seat Alhambra with private hire signs on the side and rear can be seen having suffered extensive damage.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, the movements of either vehicle immediately prior to it, or who may have dashcam footage that will assist, is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101 or by using the options on the West Yorkshire Police website.

The log reference is 2146 of 20 September.
