A private hire driver parked on a Liverpool city centre taxi rank was handed a vehicle prohibition notice after failing to produce their badges on inspection.

The driver of a dark Kia private hire vehicle was also reported for the offences.

Police and licensing officers from Liverpool City Council (LCC) targeted both taxis and private hire vehicles as part of an evening of planned enforcement.

The private hire driver was originally found parking on Victoria Street taxi rank, not far from the iconic Cavern Club in the city centre.

An LCC Licensing spokesperson said via social media: “PHV driver dealt with for being parked on hackney carriage rank, upon further inspection driver had no badges. Prohibitation notice issued for vehicle, and driver will be reported for offences.”

Earlier that same night the spokesperson shared an image of checks being made on licensed Hackney taxis ranked up, saying: “Licensing Officers are patrolling the City Centre this evening inspecting licenced vehicles operating in the City.”
