Private hire firm Veezu appoints former Zoopla marketing vice president as chief marketing officer

Veezu has appointed Joby Russell as chief marketing officer, bringing in the former Zoopla vice president of marketing to lead its brand and customer marketing as the private hire group expands across the UK.
Russell will oversee Veezu’s brand, passenger marketing and efforts to attract driver-partners. The company said he would focus on building its profile nationally and strengthening its customer proposition through its platform and products.
At Zoopla, Russell conceived and delivered multichannel marketing campaigns that the company said generated record levels of valuation requests. He previously oversaw a rebrand at Confused.com and helped grow its market share in motor insurance.
Russell also worked at Purplebricks, where he helped the business grow from a start-up to an initial public offering. Veezu said he brings more than a decade of experience building consumer brands in competitive markets.
Joby Russell, Chief Marketing Officer at Veezu, said: “Veezu is already the UK’s largest homegrown private hire business, and so the opportunity to turn this challenger brand into a household name is a great opportunity.”
Jon Martin, Managing Director at Veezu, said: “Joby has built some of the best-known consumer brands in the UK, in highly visible and competitive environments. That experience is exactly what we need as we strengthen Veezu’s national brand while staying true to the local services people know and trust. With our investment in Cab9 and continued expansion across the UK, this is the right moment to bring him on board. We’re delighted to welcome him to Veezu.”
