Private hire giants Veezu deliver support for Sheffield’s young patients
Veezu, the UK’s leading private hire technology company, has unveiled a partnership to provide vital support for young patients from Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The collaboration demonstrates how the private hire sector can offer practical solutions to community challenges.
Since August, Veezu has been providing free transport to and from the Blend Culinary Foundation at Cambridge Street Collective. This service ensures families face fewer logistical hurdles, allowing young patients to access therapeutic cooking classes designed to aid their recovery.
The Blend Culinary Foundation, working closely with Sheffield Children’s Hospital, runs tailored sessions aimed at building kitchen skills, fostering healthier attitudes towards food, and promoting positive relationships with eating. These classes are part of a wider treatment strategy that integrates nutrition, medical care, and psychological support to improve outcomes for young patients.
The initiative is part of Veezu’s nationwide Funded by Veezu programme, which supports local projects that create lasting benefits in their communities. By offering complimentary transport, the company is helping young patients and their families focus on recovery, free from additional stress.
This partnership highlights the potential for collaboration between healthcare and private enterprise to provide meaningful, localised support.
Sacha Boulis, Regional Marketing Manager for Veezu, said:“At Veezu, we are committed to supporting the communities we serve.
“By providing transportation for these young patients, we hope to reduce any barriers they may face in accessing these classes. It’s a small gesture that we believe can have a big impact on their journey to recovery.”
Caitlin Hallatt, Philanthropy Manager for The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We are so grateful for the continued support of Veezu. Working together in partnership with staff at Sheffield Children’s and Blend Culinary Foundation, we are able to offer accessible support and classes for our patients. Moving away from the hospital environment to experience tailored sessions in a fun and interactive place has proven really beneficial, and without Veezu it wouldn’t have been possible to run these sessions as effectively.
“We’ve been in partnership with Veezu for many years now and are always blown away by their willingness to support in any way that they can to help our patients and families.”
