A red-faced banned driver was caught by police officers illegally parked on a taxi rank DURING a probation appointment.
The male found behind the wheel had just been released from jail for causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The man’s car, a Vauxhall Astra, was parked on the taxi rank in Theatre Approach in Birmingham City Centre.
West Midlands Police said the driver had served half of his 22-month sentence for causing serious injury and was caught whilst visiting his probation officer in a cloned vehicle.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said via Twitter: “A male who has just been released from prison having served half his 22 month sentence for causing serious injury by dangerous driving and disqualified driving is back in the cells.
The spokesperson added in a further tweet: “First activated ANPR before being picked up and tracked by cctv. Enquires on the ground by officers identified what building he entered and he was detained leaving.
“Good result and a Male who has clear disregard for the sentence he was given back in the cells.”
