A man has been disqualified from driving for 12 months and hit with a £670 fine for riding an e-scooter while twice the drink-drive legal limit in Portsmouth.
Officers from Hampshire Roads Policing Unit noticed a male struggling to ride a rental e-scooter in a straight line on 15 January.
The officers intervened and performed a roadside breathalyser test on the man. The reading showed up at 79, twice the limit.
The man was charged to court. Details of the court hearing were released on 2 February, when it was confirmed that the rider was handed the ban and ordered to pay a fine.
A spokesperson for the force said via their official Twitter account @HantsPolRoads: "The rider was disqualified for 12 months and handed a £670 fine from Portsmouth Magistrates.
"This moment of madness from the rider will have a huge effect on his life going forward."
