Police are investigating an alleged assault at Heathrow Airport after several people were sprayed with what is believed to be pepper spray during an altercation in a Terminal 3 car park this morning.
Officers were called at 8.11am following reports of multiple victims suffering the effects of the substance.
According to the Metropolitan Police, a group of men attacked several individuals before leaving the scene. Armed response officers were deployed and one man was arrested on suspicion of assault.
He remains in custody as enquiries continue to identify and trace additional suspects. Police said early indications suggest the parties involved were known to each other and that the situation escalated from an argument rather than being a random attack.

London Ambulance Service treated several victims who were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing.
The incident caused delays to taxi drivers around the Terminal 3 road network, although the terminal remained open throughout the response.
Commander Peter Stevens said the force had increased its presence at Heathrow while officers carry out further investigative work and reassure those travelling through the airport.
The Metropolitan Police has asked anyone with information to contact 101 quoting CAD 1803 7 DEC.
Commander Stevens said: “At this stage, we believe the incident involved a group of people known to each other, with an argument escalating and resulting in a number of people being injured.
“Our officers responded quickly and there will be an increased police presence at Heathrow Airport throughout the morning, to continue enquiries and ensure the safety of those in the area.
“We are not treating this incident as terrorism. I understand the public’s concerns and would like to thank those in the area for their cooperation this morning.”
