SEIZED! Police pursue PHV at high speeds after spotting minicab travelling wrong way down road

Greater Manchester Police Traffic Unit chased down a reckless private hire vehicle (PHV) driver who was endangering pedestrians and motorists in Salford.


The driver was spotted going the wrong way around the roundabout on Fitzwarren Street at high speed, prompting the police to take immediate action.

According to a social media post made by Greater Manchester Police Traffic Unit, the cab was pursued at high speed, putting the lives of innocent people at risk. The driver was eventually caught and the vehicle was seized.


Officers said the driver may have to consider a new career opportunity as the spokesperson joked that a job delivering newspapers on a BMX might be the perfect alternative for the lawbreaking driver.


A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police Traffic Unit said: “This taxi was pursued at high speed by officers in Salford this morning, going the wrong way around the roundabout on Fitzwarren Street at high speed endangering pedestrian and motorists.


“Vehicle now seized and perhaps a new career opportunity delivering newspapers on a BMX awaits.”
