A shaken taxi driver has been assaulted in a terrifying incident involving a scaffold pole and robbed of his belongings say police officers.
Officers from West Midlands Police were called to the incident after reports of a taxi driver being assaulted and robbed in Woodsetton during the early hours of yesterday morning (5 October).
Two masked men approached a 64-year-old taxi driver who was collecting a fare just before 1.50am on Brook Street.
According to police sources, the masked men told the cabbie to open the door and when he refused they smashed a window with a scaffold pole. The driver was hit on the head before the two men made off with his car key, phone and wallet.
Although shaken, the taxi driver was not seriously hurt.
