WATCH: Shocking footage shows cyclist pushed off bike by passenger hanging out of van
Updated: Sep 15
Nottinghamshire Police have released alarming bike camera footage capturing the moment a cyclist was pushed off his bike by a passenger in a moving van.
The incident occurred on Nottingham Road, Toton, while the victim was cycling to work.
The footage shows a man leaning out of a silver Peugeot van and shoving the cyclist, causing him to fall onto the road. The victim, who was riding in the early hours of 9 March 2024, suffered injuries to his face, arms, and legs, including a swollen knee. His bike was also damaged, with bent handlebars, broken brake levers, and a damaged rear axle.
The police have pursued several leads in their investigation, focusing on the driver and the vehicle's registered keeper. They are now appealing for the public's help by sharing the footage in hopes of identifying those involved.
This assault took place at 4am, and officers are urging anyone with information to come forward.
PC Jon Lingard, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty unprovoked assault on a man cycling to work. It’s fortunate that he didn’t sustain more serious injuries following this despicable random attack.
“We are now in a position to release this footage as part of our investigation and would ask that anyone who recognises the man pictured to get in touch. We’d also ask that he contacts us if he sees this appeal.”
