A Wolverhampton licensed private hire driver working in Liverpool was reported by licensing officers for a dangerously worn tyre last night.

Liverpool City Council (LCC) Licensing officers pulled over the minicab after the driver was caught smoking in the vehicle. Officers conducted further checks and found a heavily worn tyre displaying the white cords found under the tyre's rubber grip.

The driver has been reported for the two offences.

LCC Licensing officers said via social media: “Officers on patrol dealt with driver of Wolverhampton licensed private hire vehicle smoking in vehicle, on further inspection vehicle was found with illegal tyre cords exposed. Driver will be reported for offences committed. Driver and customer safety is paramount.”
