Updated: Feb 11, 2022

A skint member of the public called 999 for help because they could not afford a taxi to the train station.

The West Yorkshire Police Contact Management Centre shared details of the emergency line conversation via social media.

According to the calll handler the person ringing in had missed an air flight and was looking now to travel by rail instead. However they did not have enough money for a taxi journey to the train station so called for police support.

A West Yorkshire Police Contact Management Centre spokesperson said: “999 call made requesting police assistance as a flight was missed and they did not have enough money for a taxi to the train station #Not999 #thinkbeforecalling
