A private hire vehicle was stopped yesterday by police in Shipley after officers discovered it was being driven in a ‘dangerous condition’.

West Yorkshire Police’s Steerside team reported that the Toyota was pulled over on Bingley Road with a severely cracked windscreen, significantly impairing the driver’s visibility and endangering road safety.

The driver has been reported to court for operating the vehicle in its current unsafe condition. In addition, the vehicle’s permits have been returned to Bradford City District Council for further action, as deemed necessary.

Police shared images of the damaged vehicle, drawing attention to the risks posed by poor vehicle maintenance.

A West Yorkshire Police Steerside spokesperson said: “This Toyota private hire vehicle was stopped on Bingley Rd, Saltaire, Shipley, this morning.

“Driver reported to court for using vehicle in a dangerous condition and permits returned to Bradford City District Council for further intervention as deemed appropriate.”
