A public meeting has been called in Solihull to address growing concerns over parking congestion in the Solihull Lodge area, after images shared online showed multiple private hire vehicles parked on residential streets.
The issue was highlighted in a social media post by Prish Sharma, who represents the Shirley West ward. The post, shared in the Shirley Solihull Community Group, included photographs of several parked vehicles and confirmed that all of those pictured were private hire cars.
According to Sharma, residents have raised repeated complaints about inconsiderate parking linked to private hire activity in the area. He said he has been engaging with Solihull Council for several months in an effort to find a resolution, citing the cumulative impact on access, road safety and day-to-day residential life.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 6 January at Solihull Lodge Community Centre and is set to run for one hour. Council officers and police representatives are expected to attend, signalling that enforcement and regulatory options are under consideration rather than informal guidance alone.
